Abstract

LC-18 SPE purification of wine samples, followed by TLC on HPTLC reversed phase plates permit to separate clearly three classes of anthocyanins contained in Vitis vinifera grapes and red wines issued from them. By this technique is possible to have very accurate quantitative results: the method is sensitive to low anthocyanins concentration and give the percentage of polymeric and free pigments. Although this method is "low" resolution compared to HPLC it will allow to have a good overview of pigment profile of red wines during aging. It should be also noted that 20 samples can be analyzed within a few hours.
