Abstract
The chapter focuses on impolite and overpolite expressions\r\nin confrontations, as two different but related linguistic resources displayed\r\nin conflict. It takes as a corpus the comedies of Plautus and Terence, and\r\nDonatus’ commentaries as source for metapragmatic comments.
