[Autom. eng. transl.] How was the patrimony of the Congregation of the Apostolic Charity of Brescia constituted, whose economic strength allows it still today, in times of crisis, to act as an element of support for welfare? From the analysis of the wills of some of the main benefactors of the confraternity, starting from the seventeenth century, Luciano Maffi reconstructs the formation of the heritage in the long term, relating the institution to the political and social events of the city and the country. The history of a great managerial competence emerges, which led to develop an intense activity of credit whose interests were destined to charity. The management of real estate assets and, in the modern age, the interest on credits allowed the Congrega to be the one that the most recent historiography defines a social support network, carrying out solidarity and assistance activities. These actions, beyond the charitable meaning, have strengthened the prestige of the institution and the benefactors who, through it, centuries later, perpetuate their social support action.
