Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay reconstructs media studies in Italy from the late 1970s onwards. Their history is analyzed along four lines: the evolution of the media system; research theories and methodologies accepted and adopted by scholars; the role of the centers for the promotion and financing of theoretical production; the normalization of communication sciences through university recognition.
