[Autom. eng. transl.] We live in an age thirsty for memories, terrified of oblivion, and endowed with formidable memorization tools. Yet memory continues to be the object of a complex debate involving transdisciplinary historians, anthropologists, philosophers, semiologists and various other categories of scholars. This book is the first introduction in Italian to Memory Studies. Starting from the reflection of the ancient world on individual and collective memory, and through an analysis of the modern debate, it draws a very up-to-date map of contemporary reflection linked more and more to the media and to the forms of memory externalization.
