Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Faced with the processes of secularization and modernization of Italian society in the late nineteenth century, the Church and the Catholic world identified in the oratory the most suitable environment for the promotion of the human and Christian education of children and young people, and especially of those from poorer classes. Within the reflection on the educational identity of this institution, particular attention was also paid to the design of the spaces - internal and external - which not only guaranteed functionality and efficiency of the educational practice, but also had to be symbolically coherent at the pedagogical horizons which inspired the Oratorian education.
