Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Six writings by Federico Borromeo illustrate aspects of the cardinal's cultural physiognomy (Milan, 1564-1631). He hopes for the renewal of scientific research by proposing modern principles of competence and verification. The project of knowledge reform also turns along the sides of education to study and writing: hence the 'didactic-literary' cut of the analyzed operettas. Some common themes distinguish the six texts: comparison between ancient and modern, specialization and encyclopedism, the book that is a vehicle of tradition.
