[Autom. eng. transl.] Starting from the Heideggerian characterization of the subject as enlightenment (the subject, unlike the object, is not only illuminated but is in itself enlightenment) the article intends to show the difference between "seeing" and "looking", for then to come to the characterization of the "gaze" as a light with which the subject illuminates the existent. The look is light that illuminates; the gaze is the answer by virtue of which the subject meets what is manifested and meets him. The existent always and inevitably manifests itself starting from the measurement of the gaze that illuminates it, a measure that can be the one that advances / responds according to the order of the appearance (the different) or according to that of the shine (the only one). The aesthetic experience is the place par excellence of the subject's intermingling with the splendor of the one.
