Abstract
On the 40th anniversary of the Basaglia Law, which established the closing down of insane asylums, the article offers a renewed reading of Mario Tobino’s narrative works. This author puts the mentally ill at the core of his psychiatric and literary activity.
Drawing the attention of the reader on the looks between doctor and patient, the essay highlights some of Tobino’s messages that are still alive and present.
