Abstract

This article offers a general picture of immigration in Italy, inviting to go beyond common stereotypes. It describes the actual dimension and characteristics of the phenomena, highlighting some aspects neglected by the current debate: the economic role of migrants; the experience of female migrants and the emerging presence of minor migrants.
