Abstract

The good knowledge of Jewish history and culture by Bodin, derived mainly from the Bible, from his historical and legal studies (the Talmud) and also from his historiographical studies (especially Philo of Alexandria and Josephus), allows Bodin in chapters VI and IX of the Methodus to outline a political and constitutional history of ancient Israel that identifies in this period of the Jewish history not only a political, but also a religious and historical paradigm.
