Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The work deepens the contents of the OM (Operations Management) in the health field and the tools to support this function. Through the analysis of three business cases, it focuses in particular on the evolution of organizational structures to understand which changes in the organizational structure and operating mechanisms (in particular information systems and the programming and control process) are necessary to develop and consolidate the function of operational management within healthcare companies. Although the three companies analyzed (Istituto Clinico Humanitas, AO of Mantova and AO Pisana) are characterized by different organizational models, it is possible to identify convergences in the way in which the operational management (GO) has developed and is internally equipped to perform its function. First of all, the GO working ground is always the floor (shop floor) of clinicians and care professionals. In this sense, although there may be different "rules of the game" (for example the contractual regimes of clinicians, the use of ad hoc incentive mechanisms to support GO's objectives), it is a very similar terrain in all the analyzed situations. . Furthermore, although the techniques and operational management tools used are different, all the three companies studied link the issues of operational management to the budget of the operating units and departments.
