Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay deals with the history of the Franciscan group of the Amadeites, linked to the preaching and spiritual activity of Amedeo Menes de Sylva. The group, which placed itself in the ambit of the Observants, between the second half of the fifteenth century and in the early sixteenth century also managed to maintain good relations with the Conventual confreres, to the point of creating many convents in the Lombard, Umbrian and Roman areas, including the famous monastery of San Pietro in Montorio. The "Ite vos" did not dissolve them and the small congregation reached the age of San Carlo Borromeo, who imposed on Pius V the bull "Beatus Christi Salvatoris confessor Franciscus" of 23 January 1568, based on which he was summoned to pressures of Carlo Borromeo in Rome a Provincial Chapter in Santa Maria della Pace on 13 February 1568, in which the union with the Observant Franciscans was voted, even though many guardians had pronounced themselves in the opposite direction.
