Giuseppe Marozzo della Rocca cardinale e arcivescovo di Novara. La Restaurazione nel Regno di Sardegna

[Autom. eng. transl.] Since the Restoration, in the Kingdom of Sardinia, an attempt took shape of reorganization which affected various areas of civil and religious life. The research intends to illuminate the contribution offered by the bishop of Novara Giuseppe Morozzo della Rocca (1758-1842) to the reform of clergy in the Kingdom of Sardinia, without neglecting the repercussions that this had in the social, educational, political, economic and religious spheres. In this way we can grasp the pastoral directions of the ecclesiastical magisterium and problems relating to the training of the clergy, with particular reference to the Novara reality, in the first half of the 19th century. The Author, starting from a rich and largely unpublished documentation, analyzes the action of Bishop Novarese who started this process of transformation of the Piedmontese Church, starting from his diocese, focusing first on the seculars and then, as Visitor apostolic, on regulars. The study, based on an interdisciplinary methodology, dedicates particular attention to ecclesiastical history and the training and didactic aspects of the reform of the clergy, in light of the most recent historiography. The volume, unraveling the biographical plot of Bishop Morozzo, intends highlight the orientations given to episcopal practice, reconstructing its religious, political and social implications. It is offered therefore the reader is given an overview that embraces vastness and meaning of the reformatory action aimed at giving new form and substance to the Church in the Kingdom of Sardinia.
