Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] On the basis of unpublished documents kept in the Archive of the Fabbrica del Duomo in Milan, the article considers the start of the construction of the lantern by the Strasbourg architect Giovanni Nexemperger (1483-1486): his intervention will then be interrupted due to problems of a static order and an international competition will be held.
