Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The "discovery" of the long family, which took place ten years ago, has allowed us to focus on the tasks of development that, in this family context, each generation has assumed, indicating the possibility of a path towards new interesting evolutionary tasks. innovative. This path is characterized by a transition to adulthood of the young generations understood as a joint enterprise of parents and children, in which, in discontinuity with the past, parents are actively engaged in achieving this goal. The long family, therefore, represents a supportive and scarcely conflictual family context within which the young person acquires considerable shares of decision-making autonomy and freedom. However, it is not immune to certain ambiguities: a nest without a doorway or a formidable social safety net in critical times for youth employment, or both of these two souls, in a plot that is not easy to solve? And what is the social impact of this family entity, what challenges does it face, what resources does it provide? The long family, in fact, can be assumed as a social marker of tensions that, unresolved on a social level, are returned to family relationships, which, on the basis of their abilities and the resources they dispose of, try, try to dissolve some leaving others intact. The volume focuses on these three different points of view within the three parts in which it is articulated, from which to observe and reflect on the phenomenon of the long family according to the now usual interdisciplinary approach: in the first part the morphogenesis of the family is deepened long, in the second the values, orientations and lifestyles that are proper to it and that it propagates in the social sphere, in the third the challenges that the environment poses to young adults and their families and the resources that these bring into play. The indication that, in summary, emerges from the various contributions is the need for an active collaboration between family and society, which allows both to invest together in the new generations and to work so that they are put in a position to carry on, for the better , the unique family histories of each and our common social history
