Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The well-being and prosperity of society itself depend on the possibility of fully and successfully achieving the transition to adult life. If the new generations cannot find a job and form their own family with children, the problem is not just for them, it is the country itself that structurally undermines the bases of its future. The generational theme is always present in the public debate, but little is then done to give real answers. Precisely because adequate tools for knowledge and interpretation of reality are lacking, the risk is that of feeding common places and providing partial readings that constitute an alibi for the shortcomings of public action. To fill this gap, the Toniolo Institute with the Cariplo Foundation has set up an observatory - whose main axis is a broad longitudinal survey - which is proposed as one of the main points of reference in Italy on analyzes, reflections, policies useful to know and improve the condition of young people. This volume is the first Report published starting from the survey data and touches on crucial issues such as those of the family and the relationship with parents, of work and the conquest of one's own autonomy, of the sphere of participation and social commitment, as well as that of values and attitudes. A useful tool not only for those doing research, for public decision makers and for those who make information, but also for educators, families and young people themselves. Further data and reflections can be found on the dedicated portal
