Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] This volume offers a territorial reading of the data from the Youth Report, a longitudinal research on the Italian youth world focused on Millennials and promoted by the Toniolo Institute of Higher Studies, founding body of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. At the same time, the volume is also configured as the first result of the work of an Observatory dedicated specifically to young people from the South. Here, in fact, the employment difficulties that distinguish the Italian youth world are added to the economic difficulties that have been rooted in the territory for decades. . The result of these elements translate into a delay in the transition to adulthood, accompanied by uncertain and unstable work paths. The South is therefore a problematic context, which mainly shows limits for the realization of the life projects of young people. The volume, however, does not exhaust its content on the limits, but also tries to highlight the resources and potential of which the young people of the South are carriers and which can represent the element of discontinuity that can represent one of the engines for a development of the South: family-oriented attitudes and values, trust in one's own skills, renewed life plans and the vision of work represent the elements still present in a generation ready to get involved.
