Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Giorgio Morelli's biography represents, in some respects, the story of an entire generation of Catholics who grew up in the 1930s within Catholic Action which, after the 1943 armistice and the Social Republic's call to arms, found itself to make radical personal decisions. Since September 1943, Morelli was active within the Resistance in Reggio Emilia working as a journalist, first through the press of the «Fogli Tricolore» and then, from 1944, together with his friend Eugenio Corezzola and under the guidance of Giuseppe Dossetti , as editor of «La Penna», magazine of the Catholic Brigade Fiamme Verdi. Morelli's experience sheds light on the reasons for a 'Catholic resistance' and on forms of civil resistance long underestimated by historiography. The volume also reconstructs Morelli's journalistic activity in the immediate post-war period, in a context made difficult by the controversies between Garibaldi's former partisans and the Fiamme Verdi. Since the summer of 1945 a clash has been taking place that takes place on the terrain of the 'memories' of the Resistance and leads to the elaboration of different conceptions of anti-fascism and in the fracture between the different components that had fought the partisan struggle. Morelli founded, together with Eugenio Corezzola, the magazine "La Nuova Penna", which denounced unsolved crimes attributing them to former communist partisans. Thus begins a clash that will culminate with the attack on Giorgio Morelli, who will die in August 1947 from his injuries.
