Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay considers Giorgio La Pira's thinking about man in his relationship with God and with other men. Man perceives himself as dependent on an Other, who is the only source of his being. The union between finite man and infinite God is realized in Jesus Christ and only by looking at Him as God can we understand the mystery of man and the problems of the world. The Christian must therefore keep the world in mind with all its problems and be attentive to the needs of the poorest, of those who have no work and who have no home. The Christian must also seek unity and peace among peoples, and in this vision the journeys made by La Pira and the international conferences he organized for peace and Christian civilization appear to be important. Dialogue was for him the only means to eliminate war, build new relationships between worlds and bring about peace.
