Abstract Chemical or physical means may be used for the pest control in food industries Using gas or physical means like heat, the use of bioindicators can be helpful: little boxes containing some insects are put in the premises before treatment is applied. After the treatment, the insects in the boxes are examined to check the mortality. The use of the bioindicators must follow few and easy rules, explained in this work, to avoid an uncorrect evaluation of the treatment efficacy.
