Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The category of "political realism" identifies a perspective of observation and explanation of political phenomena that runs through the entire history of Western thought, because its first manifestations can be recognized in the reflection of the sophists on the foundation of power and in the investigation of the war between Athens and Sparta conducted by Thucydides. Although it has passed through seasons marked by very different conceptions of politics, this tradition seems to preserve a series of constant elements, such as to authorize the inclusion, within the same category, of a truly heterogeneous gallery of thinkers. Political realism is, however, anything but homogeneous within itself. Considering more carefully the theories of the various exponents, many lines of tension emerge, and sometimes even authentic aporias. The aim of the volume is to construct a map that, while recognizing common paradigms, also highlights the lines of divergence and the aporetic tensions present within this theoretical tradition (and sometimes in the reflections of individual thinkers).
