Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The Genealogia deorum gentilium and the De montibus are not just two different versions of a single erudition project but constitute a real diptych, enclosed by the inclusion of the prologue of one and the epilogue of the other. In fact, both deal with the problem of damage caused by the handwritten transmission of the classics and identify the skills necessary to deal with them in the composition of erudite works. The article demonstrates the unitary plot of these two works through a precise analysis of their structural parts, that is prologues and epilogues, and highlights their close thematic and lexical links.
