Abstract

During the last decades of Twentieh century, the boundaries between the arts were transformed; the modes of performance were transplanted into the world of figurative art. We speak about the theatricalisation of art. The theatre also changed: the concept of theatre is expanded by questioning the boundary between the stage and life. A lot of experiences from the USA and Europe influenced italian theatre, such as Cage, the Living Theatre, the Bread and Puppet and B. Wilson. In the context of the Nuovo Teatro, the essay observes USA theatre group's influence on the italian groups.
