Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The research presented here examines the development of secondary schools run by the municipality of Milan offering evening and Sunday courses between the Age of Giolitti and the 1960s. Its aim is to shed light on an educational channel – which has not yet received an adequate examination in historiography – that ran parallel to the one offered by the government and was an alternative to the private system in an effort to combine post-elementary educational needs and demands for professional formation. Its contribution is supported by previously unpublished documentation found in civic archives and contemporary print material (Records from the City Council, administrative pamphlets, and periodicals).
