Abstract

This chapter presents the characteristics and history of these events and how they answer the needs of tourism and the communities. While the focus is specifically on folk wine festivals, considering their peculiarity and link with the broader phenomenon of the sagre, the chapter will also often refer to them and, where scholarship did not specifically investigate the folk wine festivals, will consider the data gathered about sagre in order to highlight the role of the wine festivals
