Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Due to the hotter and drier than normal meteorological trend, in the last three years two insects - the phytonome and the chrysomela - normally guests of the medicai, have reached a level of presence such as to cause serious problems in vast areas of Emilia-Romagna . The phytonome causes high damage to medicai already in production, while chrysomela is more dangerous for newly planted ones, in which it can cause the weakening and death of young seedlings. Before illustrating the possible means of combating these pests, a brief overview of the morphological characteristics for the purpose of their recognition and of the biological cycle is necessary, in order to know life habits and therefore the moments of greatest vulnerability.
