Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Finnegans Wake (hereinafter: FW) is one of the most inaccessible translatological texts: not only in the translation practice, but also under the microscope of the translation critic and theorist. We will therefore try to identify the specificity of the Joycean language in the implementation of an extreme synthesis between sound and vision, and to analyze it in relation to interlinguistic and intersemiotic translation, arriving at the definition of the FW language as "multimedia". In support of this argument, an analysis of the translation of FW (8.9-22) by Gianni Celati will follow.
