[Autom. eng. transl.] What is a sign? What is language? What does it mean to communicate? What is the meaning? Since ancient times, language has attracted the attention of philosophers, who considered it a privileged access to our conceptual universe: understanding how and why we speak can help us understand how we think. In fact, words and speeches are the fundamental ways in which we code our thoughts. Understanding how we think helps us understand the world or, at least, the way we conceive it. This volume follows a thematic path: it illustrates the concepts and problems around which the philosophers of language have discussed and continue to discuss and presents the different solutions proposed. Particular attention is paid to linguistic tools, whose analysis constitutes the founding basis and specificity of the discipline. In particular, the nominal and verbal structures and their composition in complete sentences are discussed. Furthermore, aspects relating to the conversation, its rules and implicit meanings are analyzed.
