Abstract
The exhibition on Voncenzo Gonzaga couldn’t go without Federico Follino’s text describing the duke’s coronation. Analysing the versatile court Master of Ceremonies’ report it has been possible to reconsider the main phases of the rite: the church ceremony, the coronation on the place, the ‘possesso’ of the cuty followed by donation of coins, the banquet and the pyrotechnic spectacle on the lake.
By means of of the analysis of the most standing features, all phases are pointed out as emblematic of a ‘renovatio’ of regal cult.
