Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay reconstructs the relationship between Scipione Ammirato and Federico Borromeo, the first known political thinker and seventeenth-century polygraph, and the second prince of the Church and intellectual end, with a strong interest in politics. Among the most interesting objects of the epistolary exchange, at the center of the study, is the international political situation, with particular regard to the French dynastic problem and to Henry IV, and to the threat of the Turks. In the appendix, the letters between the two are also published, some of which are still unpublished.
