Abstract

A careful archive’s data survey, starting to the Middle Ages, shows the problems related to transhumance, livestock and milk products in the area of eastern Lombardy. Attention is also paid to the Alpin pasture of flocks belonging to the great monasteries of Brescia and Bergamo, to the links between plains, high hills, temporaries hut in the Alps (malghe) and finally to the relationships of the land owners. Further the study offers important informations about milk and dairy products in the area of Valcamonica, testified in the episcopal properties’s data between XII and XIII centuries
