Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Too often mathematics is seen only as a series of procedures to be applied: in this text it is presented instead as a language to describe aspects of the complexity of reality and as a tool to solve problematic, practical or abstract situations. Mathematical competence, therefore, is strengthened if the skills to negotiate knowledge grow, to know how to discuss hypotheses, to express reasoning and deductions, using an adequate and correct language: all actions that the EAS methodology brings into play in its three phases, also allowing to develop a strategic thought that leads to "seeing" the solutions to a problem. The book contains some considerations on the relationship between mathematics education and situated learning episodes. Subsequently, six EASs are described and commented on in the field of arithmetic, statistical survey and geometry, and then conclude with reflections on evaluation. Everything was built as a stimulus and support to the teacher who wants to effectively support the teaching of mathematics.
