Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The volume comments on the results of a research carried out in Puglia in 1978-79 on a sample of 1000 statistical units. The investigation stems from the hypothesis that the family is involved in a change of < <costume> >, which touches on the religious legitimacy of family behavior. The central argument therefore concerns the relationship between religion and family, but in a broader context, which takes into account the influences of the economic system on the one hand and the cultural system on the other. The choice of a southern geographical area (Puglia) has allowed an easier distinction of the religious typology in < <religiosità ufficiale o istituzionale> > and < <religiosità popolare> >, which plays such a large part in the stages of the cycle of family life: birth, engagement, marriage and death. An economic-demographic criterion has instead guided the identification of the five localities in which to carry out the survey: Tuglie, Noicattaro, Oria, Lecce and Taranto. The contribution of the factorial analysis has allowed a remarkable deepening of the connections between family reality and religious reality, highlighting in some cases new forms, not hypothesized, of family structure and values orientation.
