[Autom. eng. transl.] Relational poverty of families, a term that encompasses different dimensions of poverty, the educational, monetary, relational: this is the focus of the volume Family and relational poverty, n. 32 of the series “Interdisciplinary studies on the family”. The theme is of dramatic relevance today, at a time when studies on the numerous scars that the pandemic has left in family relationships are multiplying. The point of view taken here is that relational poverty occurs when the relationship of alliance between genders and solidarity between generations, which specifically characterizes the family and which makes it capable of facing the key transitions that characterize its life cycle.
The volume, according to the consolidated tradition of the University Center, proposes a multidimensional and multidisciplinary reading of the phenomenon and offers useful elements from a double perspective. In fact, we can understand what were the main critical issues when Covid-19 had not yet upset the lives of families all over the world and at the same time, given that the authors wrote during the pandemic, find numerous links to the present. The aspects that must be particularly supervised were thus made evident by the authors: educational relations both in the family and in educational institutions of all levels, attention to a more equitable redistribution of economic resources, the need for a greater diffusion of support and enrichment paths for spouses and parents, and many other areas that are outlined in the volume together with some good practices and comparison with other countries, such as Russia.
