Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] For Bonaventura the existence of God appears to man as eminently knowable by himself and as an object that offers itself to the abilities of the human intellect, even before man poses the question about his existence. Therefore, for the Doctor Seraphicus, God exists is a certain, immediate, evident truth. The evidence of the existence of God is linked to the evidence of the first principles or rather the evidence of a necessity in itself from which the first principles draw their own necessity. In other words: the evidence of the unity of being, revealed both in causality in search of the first and in the principle of identity and in the principle of non-contradiction. Since for Bonaventura idem est principium essendi et cognoscendi, two processes can be identified for to show the existence of God: one centered on the first name of God, being (quod est manifestissimum et perfectissimum, ideo primum), and one on the notion of truth. In the final analysis, God appears to be the source and end of all human knowledge. Source as sum truth, guarantor of knowledge, but also as a supreme being. Term because "it is first, it has created everything having itself as an end". And it is precisely in the contemplation of God that man's thirst for knowledge finds his bliss.
