Abstract
Internet penetration among children requires a scientific knowledge base, comparable on a European basis, about their online practices and their digital skills, as well as their exposure to major online risks, in order to design policies and training to ensure a safer internet, without limiting its opportunities. The EU Kids Online research data, describing the most common risks and damages, and the forms of resilience and adult mediation, suggests some guidelines for both decision makers and media educators.
