Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The objective of this manual is to share objectives, structure and details of the skills assessment model for asylum seekers and political refugees called "ESPaR". The first two chapters are dedicated to the educational and professional orientation needs of migrants and to the points of attention to be taken into consideration when making career counseling with this specific target. It is a very important part of the manual because it allows us to grasp the meaning of the ESPaR model: those who have had the chance to know it up to now considered it innovative not so much because it proposes interventions never experienced before, but because it intends to act on knowledge dynamics and personal maturation almost always bypassed by the classic interventions to support job placement that concern migrants but not only. The third chapter proposes a focus on multicultural counseling, highlighting that this cannot be based only on a generic welcoming attitude of the other, but that also requires specific skills. Two dedicated methodological chapters follow, of which the first is dedicated to the autobiographical narrative, which is the basis of the whole journey. During the development of the latter, the narrative moves from a less structured mode, aimed at a first awareness of one's own characteristics, to the elaboration of mourning for the loss of one's professionalism and to the development of the right attitude towards career redesign , in a more structured way, which leads to a greater conviction of one's competences and motivations and a better ability to present oneself on the labor market. The second chapter is dedicated to group orientation, in order to ensure that the individual meetings, which are conducted mainly in this form, can be as efficient as possible. Once the theoretical introduction part is completed, the model is presented, dedicating a specific paragraph to each intervention. Inside it is possible to view the images of the cards prepared for some of the planned activities, while we refer you to the internet to be able to access the material to be printed for its use during the running of the groups. The last chapter is dedicated to experimentation, which was conducted in the summer of 2017, whose evaluation has made it possible to optimize the intervention thus making it more efficient and effective.
