Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The article analyzes some Pavia poetic inscriptions from the Lombard period (eighth century), saved by manuscript transmission, linked to the commissioning of works of art that have been lost. In this way it is possible to mentally reconstruct the richness of the decoration of some Pavia basilicas of the early Middle Ages (in particular the church of S. Michele).
