Abstract
The visit of Aeneas to Dido's spirit in the sixth book of Virgil's Aeneid is certainly one of the most celebrated passages in ancient literature and probably in all Western literature. The article deals with the problems of a modern translation of this masterpiece, and, moving from the analysis of several translation, both English and Italian, proposes a new translation giving some reasons of the translator's choices.
