Abstract

The paper analyzes the contributions of Prof.Emilio Gabba (1927-2013) to the study of the Roman Army: in an early phase he privilegiated the impact of the army on Roman society and politics, later he turned his research to the military and technological aspects of the evolution of the imperial army.
