Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay aims to tell a brief history of models of representation of the role of grandparents in Italian cinema: from the classic narrative figures of the patriarch and mother-in-law, to the construction of vehicles for the performances of the great actors, when in the years. Compared to the past, in contemporary film and television production it seems that the narrative stereotype has exhausted its capacity to participate in the construction of a shared collective imaginary.
