Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Two groups of primiparous cows were compared in the first 154 days of lactation, to evaluate the effects of the different milking system (traditional room vs. automatic system) on the parameters of the oxidative state in the plasma. Plasma analyzes focused on: reactive oxygen metabolites (ROMs); total thiol groups (SHp); total proteins; albumin; ceruloplasmin. There were no significant differences in the oxidative state of cows depending on the milking system adopted. Both ROMs and SHp showed significant differences as a function of the week of lactation considered, with a significant tendency to increase for SHp in the transition from 7 to 154 days of lactation. The SHp: albumins ratio also increased with the progression of lactation in the period considered. The plasma level of ceruloplasmin was positively correlated to the level of ROMs (r = 0.498; P <0.001).
