Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Existence is lived with awareness when it 'finds itself' beyond anonymity and impersonality. The person must be 'shown to himself' in his possible authenticity: the testimony has the task of attesting to a planning and significant power-to-be. The pedagogical action encourages and directs the student to 'promise himself' to build himself in the freedom of an unrepeatable personal impulse, of a socio-political commitment, in the nobility (as a refusal of the degrading) and in the levity that he can experience by living in the playful dimension and the poetic. The transformative promptness found in the experience of witnessing helps to understand the normative dimension of the pedagogical promise: it can be understood as the guardianship of formation, its freedom and vocation. Conscience/attestation pertinently fits into the problem of the search for truth through the practical triad composed of ethics, morality and conviction. Pedagogical ontology inextricably links the existential constitution of the individual to his potential to be: the call of conscience can awaken and reveal, it concerns the mystery of the person, between voluntary and involuntary; it represents at the same time a design tension and an intentional openness towards the other and towards the High, which can be defined as the promising quality disclosed by the pedagogical testimony.
