Abstract

This book continues on the line of research of the previous "Education through Art", released in 2003, and consists of three major components: research, development of the theme of training, analysis of case studies. This structure reflects a working method that has been characterized for some time a certain university work in which research closely intertwines with training stimulating fields and methods, and developing itself along organic lines because of the living link between the parties, in a path that gives equal dignity to research and teaching. These two fields are part of some case studies on which to judge the progress and evolution of the specific program of the relative cultural areas. The essay Educating through art. Arguments and perspectives. What new frontiers, investigates the definition of the scope of the survey that from the artistic process moves to consider the role of the museum and the presence of the Art Heritage in the territory. From the centrality of the work of art, a series of arguments starts, having as scope the disciplinary area on the one hand and, on the other, the identification of the nature of art and reality relationship, the position it occupies in the path of education and knowledge and the experience which it is able to allow. From the consideration of the artistic heritage as a cultural resource, the text examines the problem of model museum and identifies it in the idea of museum as interpretative system, either by calling what historically leads to that address, either in the close examination of the US experience recently acquired, finally, the challenges that the phenomenon of migration and multicultural society requires to face. The central part of the book dedicated to the ignored issue of training, examines the construction of a path to respond to the competence profile of the manager of educational services in the museum outlined by the guidelines of the Lombardy Region and the National Charter of the museum professions by ICOM Italy. the founding points and the strategies for this kind of training are framed by an excursus on the institutional steps that, starting from our country unitary history , marked the connection between art and education.
