Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Can the initiatives of the 'Cities of Relief' contribute to education on well-being by promoting practices of relief for chronic and terminally ill patients? The aim of the project is the pedagogical mapping of Italian municipalities committed to spreading the culture of relief in compliance with law 38/2010 which guarantees support and care in order to reduce unnecessary pain. Human suffering calls for an ethical approach to the search for well-being that is not only individual but also social. Educating the community on an ethic of well-being of the sick person represents an opportunity to extend the concept of care as a shared responsibility. Mapping good practices to reflect on daily practices and valorize professionals, volunteers and institutions that work to embrace and reduce unnecessary pain, to create a 'relief network' that puts the person at the center despite the illness, building an attentive and empathetic citizenship.
