The aim of this work is to investigate the reception of the model of Social Market Economy in Italy by looking at the links between the German Ordo Liberal and the Italian liberal economists, and the impact that the position of the former has had in the definition of economic policy in Italy after the Second World War. The period considered is that of 1944-1960, when in Italy, as in other European countries, the commitment to the necessary reconstruction of a market economy is combined with the need to rethink the social order.
