Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The IMF estimates a contraction of the world economy of -3.3% last year, 1.1% lower than expected in October 2020, and growth for 2021 of 6% and 4.4% in 2022, respectively 0.8% and 0.2% higher than the forecasts of October 2020, values that reflect the fiscal support implemented by the governments of advanced economies and the vaccine effect.
In 2020, the FAO nominal index of agri-food prices (Food Price Index, FPI) recorded an annual average of 98.0 (base 100 in the three-year period 2014-2016), with a growth of 3.2% compared to the previous year: after a decline in the first half of the year, prices continued to rise, reaching a value of 108.5 until the year, then continuing to grow in the first months of 2021 ( 118.5 in March). World Bank data on commodity markets also confirm this trend, recording a 4.6% growth in the agricultural price index in 2020. On the other hand, fertilizer prices fall by 10.0% on an annual basis.
