Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Creation is a gift. It's not something you buy. It precedes us and will happen to us. It is a gift that must be shared. How do we want to leave this earth? For what purpose do we work, why do we study? We are asked to look at reality in an organic way, since everything is in relation. And life challenges us to answer two questions: why does the earth need us? Where is your brother? These are the questions at the center of the encyclical letter Laudato si 'on the care of the common home with which Pope Francis addresses all the people who live on the planet. The volume edited by Claudio Giuliodori and Pierluigi Malavasi is based on these questions. This book is dedicated to young people, protagonists of change, in which authoritative scholars confront each other on the themes touched by the pontifical document. The human root of the ecological crisis calls into question politics and the economy, educational paths and scientific research. The essays gathered here, the fruit of different disciplinary sensibilities, focus attention on that integral ecology that constitutes the heart of the encyclical. Integral ecology understood as "a beautiful mother who welcomes us in her arms". Everything is connected: the responsibility towards the environment and the social inclusion of the poor, respect for human cultures and lines of action for fair and inclusive development
