Drammaturgia del comico. I libretti per musica di Carlo Maria Maggi nei theatri di Lombardia

[Autom. eng. transl.] The volume studies the activity of Carlo Maria Maggi as librettist for the public scene of the Ducal Theater in Milan and for the private theater of the Borromeo on the Isola Bella. Starting from Maggi's participation in the Accademia dei Faticosi, an original writing practice is reconstructed, shaped on the models of Venetian dramaturgy but with a strong comic imprint, which is part of the path of an author always active in the field of musical theater and college, also considered in his time an excellent figure on the Milanese cultural scene. The volume contains the critical edition of two unpublished dramas by Maggi, preserved in manuscripts at the Estense Library in Modena and the Borromeo Arese private archive.
